Fishing

Tenkara

The last time I fly-fished was probably in 2009— it’s been too long.  I do bass fishing every year, but fly fishing has been quite elusive for me.  One thing I’m excited about this summer is that I’ll be free from the pressure that hindered me from fly fishing in recent years and that I deserve to spend some time in small streams in southern Vermont! During the Marlboro summer festival season, I used to fly-fish, mostly by myself, just to get out of the pseudo-reality that Marlboro really is, and to enjoy the beautiful nature that helps me find what’s truly important in life. September in Japan

(Originally posted on October 3, 2010) I was in Japan during the most of September.  It was nice to be back in Japan for a while— seeing familiar faces and having some Japanese goodies were priceless.  But some would wonder (well, I did) why I wanted to go to Japan when not going to Japan might have been a smarter choice from a couple of standpoints; one: I just went through a financial hardship after my wrist fracture and I would need to save the money I just earned during summer; and two: I’m preparing for my first qualifying exam and I should be studying for it if I wanted

Spring has come— fishing season is here!

(Originally posted in March, 2010) This week has been IU’s spring break week.  I’ve been taking advantage of this unusually mild weather lately and have gone fishing a few times already this week.  I don’t remember going fishing during the spring break in the past, so I suppose we are lucky this year to have had a few warm days before the break that raised the water temperature for some good fishing this week! There are many different kinds of fishing — the kind I like is fresh water fishing using artificial baits.  I really love lure fishing for bass and fly fishing for trout!  For some reason I don’t
