Do you need a hand with Bach? I can help.

Not your typical Bach guy.

Hello, I’m Koji. If you are a musician needing some Bach tidbits and clues for your Bach playing, I can help. If you need a conductor who has a holistic understanding of Bach’s vocal/instrumental works, that’s right up my alley. Do you need a violoncello piccolo (violoncello da spalla) player for your Bach cantata performance? Let me know!

Bach Lessons/Lectures

Helping those who strive to improve their Bach playing is very satisfying—regardless of their instruments and focus. I do not alienate modern instruments; rather I welcome everyone who wants to speak Bach’s musical language on their instruments or in their singing.

Bach Ensemble Direction

Having a choral conducting background and my experience as a string player, I bring my own diverse experiences in historically informed performance to the table. Bach’s theology is fundamental to my interpretations.

Violoncello da spalla

It is very likely that when Bach called for “Violoncello piccolo” in his cantatas, he meant an unusually small cello like this one. Playing those special obbligato parts is what I get really excited about.
